3. How SnapCanvas Pro Works

All functionality operates entirely locally within your browser:

• Image Capture: Screenshots are processed using browser APIs (Chrome Tabs API) locally.
• Image Processing: Editing operations (crop, resize, rotate, flip, convert) happen in your browser using HTML5 Canvas technology. No data leaves your device.
• Image Detection: Our engine scans the current webpage's DOM locally to find images.
• Local Storage: Preferences such as theme settings are stored in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.

4. Permissions Explained

SnapCanvas Pro requests the following permissions, used only for their stated purpose when you actively use a feature:

4.1 activeTab

Purpose: Captures screenshots of the currently visible area of your active browser tab.

Usage: Triggered only when you click "Capture Visible Area" or similar buttons. Only the active tab is accessed.

4.2 scripting

Purpose: Allows scripts to be injected for advanced features like full-page capture and image detection.

• Full-page capture: Scrolls and stitches multiple screenshots.
• Image discovery: Scans the page's DOM for all images, including srcset and background images.
• Context menu extraction: Extracts images from the current page.

Important: Scripts run only when you actively use a feature and never automatically in the background.

4.3 contextMenus

Purpose: Adds options to your right-click menu.

Usage: Menu items like "Capture Visible Area," "Capture Full Page," and "Edit Image in SnapCanvas Pro" give quick access to features.

4.4 storage

Purpose: Saves your preferences locally.

• Preferred theme (light or dark mode)
• UI preferences
• Temporary context menu data (cleared immediately after use)

Important: Storage is local only and never synced to external servers.

4.5 unlimitedStorage

Purpose: Allows the extension to store larger amounts of data locally without being limited by standard browser storage quotas.

Usage: Used only when you work with large images, high-resolution screenshots, or temporary work-in-progress editing data. This ensures smooth performance without data loss during image processing.

4.6 downloads

Purpose: Enables saving files directly to your device.

Usage: Used only when you click actions such as “Download” or “Save Image” to store your captured, cropped, resized, or converted images in your computer’s Downloads folder.

5. Third-Party Services

SnapCanvas Pro does not use any third-party services for analytics, advertising, data collection, or image processing.

5.1 External Resources

The extension uses only local system fonts. External content may appear in:

• Image Previews: Images displayed via image detection come from the original webpage sources, not our servers.

We have no control over external websites’ privacy practices. Those sites’ policies apply when interacting with their content.

6. Data Retention

• Captured Images: Stored temporarily while you work; deleted after download or closing the extension.
• User Preferences: Persist in local storage until browser data is cleared or extension uninstalled.
• Context Menu Captures: Temporary storage cleared immediately after use.

7. User Rights and Control

• Access: All data is local and viewable via browser developer tools.
• Deletion: Clear browser cache/cookies or uninstall the extension.
• Portability: Images remain under your control and can be saved locally.
• Opt-Out: No data is collected, so no opt-out is needed. Simply avoid features you are uncomfortable using.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

SnapCanvas Pro does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. No personal data is collected from any user.
